This page is dedicated to my beautiful sweet kitty Alley who died of Feline Leukemia in 1995. He now resides at Rainbows Bridge on a sunny hillside surrounded by flowers & toys. He still lives in my heart & was and always will be loved dearly.
Alley was a stray when we first adopted him. He showed up one day cold and hungry. We had three other cats at the time so my mother would not take him in. So we put a blanket on the back porch and some food & water, and that is where he lived for a few months. Winter neared, and with freezing cold weather on the horizon, we decided to take him into our home.
When we took him in we believed he was an elderly female. He was very sick. After a trip to the vet, we discovered he was a 2 year old male who only had a minor infection. We also found out he was a breed called Maine Coon. Very popular. A few weeks later he was as good as new, and we had him neutered. I bought him a cute little name tag and he was officially part of the family.
He was originally an outdoor cat, but that came to an end when some neighbors from down the street called and claimed that he was there cat. This cat had slept on our back porch every single night. I fed him and gave him water. Yet they claimed they took good care of him. I didn't know what to say, but thankfully the owner said that she did not want him anyway. She brought him back over to our house, dumped him on the kitchen floor and basically said he's yours.
After that, it became obvious that he had suffered abuse. He was terrified of mops and brooms, and he'd cower down when you raised your hand. It was very sad, but after a few years with us, he became a trusting loving kitty. He even started sleeping with me at the end of my bed. He trusted me the most. I was the only person he would allow to pick him up and hold him in my arms.
In the 3 short years that I knew him, Alley was the sweetest and most beautiful of all cats. He touched my heart. There was a special bond between us, and I miss him terribly. I would give anything to bring him back. I love you, my beloved Alley, and may you play by Rainbow's Bridge until the day we can be together again.
